If you’re just getting started or looking to embark on a freelance career, then you’re in good company. After all…
Today I want to show you EXACTLY why the number of people freelancing has grown so fast and how you can take your career to the next level -- even in the midst of everything that's going on in the world right now.
First, it’s time to show you why...
We know that 2020 —for the most part — sucked.
You can hardly forget a year when:
Our world has changed.
It's not just the same old problems, it's different. Many people got furloughed, lost their jobs — whether laid off or fired — lost insurance, and more.
So, how do you adjust and regain some measure of control in this new environment?
It’s time for people with a skill to take matters into their own hands and make this the year of the freelancer!
When it comes to freelancing, recessions don’t matter as much as they do to employees.
Plus, as Lamine Zarrad notes, “Freelancers are often more appealing to employers during a recession. A sole proprietor or freelance consultant does not require the heavy benefits package of a full-time employee, including health insurance, a 401(k) or paid time off.”
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a photographer, writer, accountant, or web designer. Right now, there’s high demand for freelance skills and you can make a good living freelancing:
According to a report from Freelancer.com, "data showed there was a 25 per cent increase in the number of freelancing jobs posted between the first and second quarter of 2020, rising from 482,000 to 605,000 nationally" and the same data shows “a 41 per cent jump in freelance positions compared to this time last year. The total number of jobs in this period rose 176,000 to 605,000” illustrating employers' need to hire specialists on a short-term basis (instead of staffing full-time positions) and workers' increased preference for flexible employment arrangements.
As you may have noticed freelancers have lots of opportunities...
In the not-so-distant past, it was more difficult for people with a marketable skill to start freelancing.
There were more barriers to entry than there are now.
The good news is: If you want to launch a freelance career, now you have no excuse.
This is your year.
Even if 2020 was a rough year for you.
Even if you lost your job or took a pay cut.
You can take matters into your own hands, choose your own destiny, and pursue your calling.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
Hectic has plenty of resources to help you succeed.
But, you have to decide whether you want it bad enough. At the end of 2021, what do you want to look back and say you accomplished?
You know you want to be your own boss.
You've been studying how to prepare yourself to quit your job and go freelance.
Or maybe you want to start your freelancing business while working full-time while you still have a steady income.
Maybe you’re wondering whether it’s hard to become a freelancer or if you have what it takes to be a successful freelancer (I bet you do!)
At the end of the day, it all boils down to whether or not you have the courage to take the leap.
When I was starting out as an independent contractor, I had no clue that this would eventually lead me to being my own boss.
It wasn't until years later when I started working for myself and making enough money to support myself on my own that I realized just how much of a difference taking the leap could make in your life.
Even though we’re going through a period of great uncertainty, it’s times like this we start to question what we really want out of life – and there’s no better time to start a business than when you’re determined to make a change.
It’s like that old saying goes, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
Well, the truth is there has never been a better time to start a freelance business.
Business owners and corporations are turning to freelancers like never before.
In fact, 32% of organizations have been replacing their full-time employees with contingent workers since the outset of the coronavirus outbreak.
Well, there are several reasons:
If you’re just getting started, look for areas where your skills are in high demand. Clark Howard recently released a new report showing the categories with the most freelance job listings since the COVID-19 pandemic started.
According to a Gallup poll, 85% of people don't like their jobs (or their boss). Freelancing offers you an end to the 9-to-5 life.
People, especially younger people want to grow out of -- not up -- the corporate ladder. They want more out of life than sitting at a desk, grinding away their best years, and dying. Organizations are beginning to recognize this and are increasingly looking for skilled individuals outside of their staff.
